ABOUT ME
Hello!
'm Petra Marcotti and I am Italian. I am here to share a story of choices, challenges, and victories, and to help you harness the incredible power of choice in your own life journey.

Originally from a quaint village near Lake Maggiore, between the countryside and the mountains, I chose to break free from the confines of a small community at 18, moving to the vibrant city of Brighton, UK, for university. This decision marked the beginning of my journey to uncover my authentic self. From Philosophy to Cognitive Neuroscience, my academic pursuits delved deep into the intricacies of the human mind.
Not only did I have an interest in how people think, feel and behave, but I also had a desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives. This drove my decision to pursue a Ph.D. of research in Cognitive Psychology. The journey, while not always easy, revealed my resilience and determination.
The first turning point in fact came during my Ph.D., when I faced personal and professional struggles, leading me to seek help from a therapist. Feeling stuck, incapable, and grappling with personal disappointments, I believed I was destined for unhappiness and failure. Little did I know, this experience would spark a passion for self-improvement.
I discovered the transformative power of choice. Books like Brené Brown's 'Daring Greatly' became guides, leading me to embrace vulnerability and change my self-talk. I shifted from a mindset of limitations to one of empowerment and acceptance. The following years were a testament to the resilience that comes from choosing a positive response to life's challenges. Despite facing some setbacks, I successfully completed my Ph.D. with pride.
Yet, the isolated nature of research left me yearning for more human connection and for a profession that would allow me to work closely and have meaningful interactions with people. The passion for my field and the significant expertise I had gained led me to teach Psychology in Further Education and to start as an Associate Lecturer in Psychology for a UK online university.
During this time, I found myself at a crossroads again. Despite having everything I thought I wanted, I felt stressed, and disconnected from my authentic self. Balancing multiple teaching roles left me unfulfilled and craving more from life. I thought I did not know what I wanted and I needed to find clarity about the direction of my life, but I just did not know how to do it on my own. I needed someone to help me move forward.

It was a journey with a life coach that empowered me to resign from my teaching position at college and to find my true calling; I realised that, to me, living authentically meant doing more to help others make positive changes in their lives. This is when I embarked on training with the Coaching Academy as a Personal Development Coach and NLP practitioner.
My drive stems from a profound curiosity about people's stories and a firm belief that we all hold the power to shape our lives. Life throws curveballs, but we always have the freedom to choose our response.

As your personal performance and mindset coach, my primary focus is helping you recognize the freedom of choice, empowering you to make proactive, positive choices by tapping into your resources, strengths, and abilities. Through a journey of self-discovery and positive change, I will guide you from where you are now to where you want to be. We will rewrite limiting beliefs, navigate challenges, and create a life aligned with your true potential.

P.S. I also continue to nurture my passion for Psychology thriving as an Associate Lecturer at the online university, where I am currently engaged in teaching, mentoring, and supervision.
